Descripción del itinerario
This walk starts from the top of the Leek arm of the Cauldon Canal and forms a slightly figure of eight route to and around Deep Hayes Country Park. It returns via the old railway line. We lost rhe track at the end of the railway line. After crossing the Churnet you might want to head straight on rather than taking the right hand path which eventually disapears.

This is a great and reasonably easy walk from Leek. You can walk from Leek town centre, through the industrial estate, adds 2km each way but makes a difference with parking. When you get to the first bit where the walk splits, go straight over the canal bridge and do the loop through the country park. Then do the second loop, back to the canal and back along the disused railway.
There's a pub about half way round, but you might have to wait 45 minutes for food.
The big issue is at the end of the walk. We couldn't follow the route for the last bit where it joins up with the canal again because the farmer has blocked the way with a barbed wire fence. When you get to the bridge where you did the first loop into the country park, you can come off the disused railway and go back to the canal path. There may be options at the end of the disused railway section too. But don't let this spoil a great and varied walk.
