Dernau

This is a nice and easy walk on the east side of Dernau, not through the vineyards but through the woods.

The going up is comfortable as we followed the narrow road from the bridge over the river Ahr to the top of the Krausberg with its characteristic and prominent tower and the café/bar which is only open on Sundays and holidays.

The woodland to the east of Dernau stretches itself for miles and miles and there are may tracks and junctions, quite o lot of them with signs. One could walk all the way to Ramersbach, Bad Neuenahr, or Altenahr.

We, however, stuck to a short circular and easy route , full of nice views and panoramas even towards the west and the village of Rech.
