Descripción del itinerario
A perfect escape into nature with a great mix of high-energy activity! This hike kicks off easy on Trail 8 in Jabal Moussa Reserve, passing by Naher el Dahab, a beautiful place to take pics, but things get interesting as you make your way up to the cross on Trail 9, right after Mar Gerius Church. The path can be a bit tricky to follow at first, but you can easily navigate by staying close to the electric wire with the light bulbs that guide you to the top. Reaching the cross took some serious effort(from~ 900 ASL to ~1350 in 3 km walk) – I'm in my 50s, so I took a couple of breaks along the way, but if you're young, a regular hiker, and particularly strong in your lower body, you're going to love this challenge. The views from the top are totally worth! After reaching the cross, I continued on Trail 6, then 2, heading to the highest point in Jabal Moussa. This section was demanding, but honestly, it was easier than how i already reached this stage 😄. Once at the peak, it’s all about the descent! I made my way back down using Trail 3, then 6, and finally 7, which offered some relaxing views as I made my way to Nahr El Dahab.
My dog got sick when we started our ascent after the church and stopped walking 😔. However , half an hour rest was capable of recharging her, and we continued.
If you're fit and up for a rewarding hike with varied challenges and beautiful landscapes, this one is definitely worth it! Make sure you’re prepared( a lot of water and some energy food)for a mix of ascents and descents, but the experience is incredibly satisfying.
PS: Do not overestimate your level of fitness. This is a difficult hike!. Keep it clean
