Tumanyan Loop trail takes you up from town into the mountains, with fields, forested areas, and many great views of the canyon and plains below. There is a good deal of elevation gain, and some parts of the trail can attract runoff.
We recommend you start the hike heading up the eastern track, so that on your way down to the west you will be afforded the best sweeping views of the canyon. Starting earlier in the morning also gives the best lighting, as the entire canyon will be in sunlight when you get to the best views, without shadows everywhere. Plus it will be cooler if you start early in the summer.
